I currently have 512mb of ram in my comp, now i have one slot left is it possible to put a 1gb in the remaining slot so that my comps memory is 1512mb??

Also just wanted to know why my pc only says my comp has 480mb ram? with my old motherboard it had 512?

You will need to check with the manufacturer of the motherboard to see if it will support a gb of memory. If it is a relatively new motherboard you should have no problem adding the extra gig of ram.

Window can only shows what it can use. The correct memory should be displayed by the bios when the system boots up.

You can't put a 1gb chip in with a 512mb.. won't work. You can either use a single 1gb chip or two matched 512mb chips.. provided your comp supports 1gb of RAM, that is.
